Transportation Federal Credit Union Announces Winners of the 2024 Dare-to-Soar Writing Contest

Transportation Federal Credit Union (Transportation FCU) is proud to announce the winners of the inaugural Dare-to-Soar Writing Contest. The writing contest was created to encourage the bright minds of middle school students (ages 11-13) to soar and explore the vast world of STEM- related careers in the Department of Transportation.

The writing contest winners are selected based on a 600-800 word essay that answered the question “What would transportation look like in 2050 and beyond?”. The Grand Prize winner for the contest received an all-expense paid trip for two (2) to the Annual EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Two runner-up winners from the contest received ground transportation & tickets to the Virginia Spaceport Authority in Norfolk, Virginia. Additionally, each winner will receive a $250 donation to their school or organization.

The Grand Prize winner of this year’s contest is Sree Ganti, a student from Mount View Middle School. The two runner-up winners are Athena Huen from Robert Clemente Middle School and Morgan Dutton from Highlands Elementary School.

“We are thrilled to recognize these outstanding young writers,” said Sharmaine Bucknor, Transportation Federal Credit Union, Chief Marketing Officer. “We believe in empowering young minds and are proud to provide a platform for these talented individuals to share their creativity.”
