  1. Q: When is the Contactless “Go Live” date?  

A: Go Live is scheduled for June 2026.  TFCU will send communication through various channels to alert our membership of the changes.  

  1. Q: Will a new card number be created (Primary Account Number- PAN)? 

A: No, both debit and credit cards will be processed as reissues so the PAN will stay the same.  We have modified the design and only the expiration date and CVV will change.  

  1. Q: How long will it take for new credit card applicants to receive a card?  

A: Starting in June, NEW credit card requests will be subject to a 15-20 business days processing time to receive the new card.  We will only be issuing contactless credit card types starting in June and after. 

  1. Q: Can new account holders get an Instant issue debit card?  

A: Yes, in-branch new accounts opened in June  will be eligible for instant issue debit cards. Online  accounts will be subject to 15-20 business days processing time to receive a new contactless card.  

  1. Q: Is there a hard cut-off date for existing credit/ debit cards being reissued?  

A: No, there is no hard cut-off date for existing cards. Our membership will be able to use their existing EMV cards during the reissue process and afterward.  Once the new contactless card is received and activated, we suggest that you destroy the old EMV card.     

  1. Q: Can I distinguish between an existing EMV card and the new Contactless card?   

A:  Both debit and credit card designs have changed, and each card will now have the contactless symbol.

  1. Q: Should the new contactless card be loaded into a digital wallet? 

A: Yes, we strongly recommend that the new contactless card(s) be loaded into digital wallets.  Either as a new setup or to replace the existing TFCU card with the new design, expiration date, and CVV.   

  • Loading a contactless card into a digital wallet (like Apple Pay, Google Wallet, or Samsung Pay) makes transactions significantly more secure than using a physical card. Digital wallets add layers of security, including tokenization (using a fake card number) and biometric authentication, which prevents real card details from being stolen or used by others.

When you choose to add any of our provided digital wallet methods, you’ll be adding contactless, fraud-resistant, state-of-the-art protection to every shopping trip. That’s because your actual card number is not with the payment. For your safety, a virtual account number is used. This adds even more security to your financial life. Getting started is easy.

Step 1: Look for your mobile wallet on your smartphone. Add your Transportation FCU Visa® card(s) to the mobile wallet.

Step 2: Look for the contactless symbol at your favorite store’s checkout.

Step 3: Unlock your device, hold it near the reader, and follow the instructions.

Anytime you use your Transportation FCU credit card for an online purchase, Visa helps keep your information updated so you don’t miss a payment. That way if your card is re-issued, you won’t have to update multiple websites and online retailers with the new information. To discontinue this feature, print and complete the opt-out form.
