This year, we’re celebrating 85 years of proudly serving the transportation community and enhancing the financial well-being of our members and their families. With the first quarter of the year behind us, spring in full bloom, and the new VOLPE branch open for business, we’re off to a great start.
Credit unions are built on the philosophy of “people helping people”. For us, that means helping members reach their financial destination. April is Financial Literacy Month. Throughout the month and beyond, we will continue to build awareness of our many workshops, online resources, and financial counseling. That includes our Financial Wellness in Motion blog posts, educational videos, and articles. With our Lunch and Learn webinar series, we want to ensure you and other members have the opportunity to learn more about budgeting, credit scores, saving strategies, identity theft scams, and so much more. We believe in providing the tools and guidance to help empower you to make informed financial decisions and achieve long-term financial wellness.
We are also proud to support the next generation of leaders by developing programs like the Miriam Lieb Scholarship and the new
Dare to Soar for middle school students. In fact, we’ve extended the deadline for the Dare to Soar writing competition to April 15. If you know a middle-school student with a passion for science, send them to our website to apply. They could win an all-expenses-paid trip for two to the Annual EAA AirVenture in Wisconsin or tickets to the Virginia Spaceport Authority in Norfolk, Virginia to learn about the people and technologies that enable the FAA missions. This is a great opportunity for aspiring young minds and their families to see science in action and learn more about the transportation community.
We are committed to better serving our members and our communities and invite you to join us in celebrating the grand opening and ribbon cutting of our newly remodeled headquarters and Alexandria branch.
As we continue our journey into 2024 and beyond, we thank you for supporting your credit union. It is our honor to help you meet your financial needs today, tomorrow, and for decades to come.
