TRANSPORTATION FEDERAL CREDIT UNION HOSTS SUCCESSFUL SHRED-IT DAY TO PROMOTE IDENTITY PROTECTION
Alexandria, VA (October 25, 2025): Transportation Federal Credit Union (TFCU) proudly hosted its annual Shred-It Day at the Oswald Durant Center in Alexandria, VA. The event welcomed members and community residents to safely dispose of sensitive documents and take proactive steps toward protecting their personal information.
With identity theft affecting nearly one-third of Americans annually, TFCU’s Shred-It Day offered a secure and convenient way to destroy documents as medical records, financial statements, and tax paperwork. Participants were encouraged to bring up to two boxes or bags of materials, which were shredded on-site by our partner vendor, Iron Mountain.
“The turnout was fantastic, and we’re thrilled to see our members and neighbors taking steps to protect themselves from fraud,” said Wayne Dixon, Business Development Officer at TFCU. “Events like this are a part of our ongoing commitment to financial wellness and community engagement.”

The event was part of TFCU’s broader financial literacy initiative, which includes educational resources on budgeting, credit management, and fraud prevention. Attendees also had the opportunity to learn more about TFCU’s services and membership benefits.
